Brooklyn Autism Center NewsletterOctober 2010
Greetings!

October has been a busy month at the BAC, and we are also looking forward to many exciting events coming up soon.

This weekend, the BAC will have a booth at the National Autism Association's 3rd Annual NYC Autism/Asperger's Conference featuring Temple Grandin! We hope to spread the word about our program and resources to members of the autism community. Click here for more information about this conference.

Please see below for details on our upcoming Halloween celebration and stay tuned in the coming weeks for an invite to a reception honoring our wonderful volunteers!

BAC Halloween Party
We will be celebrating Halloween at the BAC at 1:30 pm on Friday, October 29th! Parents, send your child to school with a costume to change into for the party! Students will practice trick-or-treating, decorate pumpkins, and show off their costumes. Parents are welcome to join in the celebration.
Save the Date:
Mark your calendars! BAC's 3rd Annual Comedy Fundraiser will be held on Tuesday, February 8th at Caroline's on Broadway.

More details about the event will be announced soon!
Guggenheim Partnership
The BAC has partnered with the Guggenheim Museum to provide training for their teaching artists. These teaching artists provide tours of the museum and run workshops for students with disabilities. We are teaching them how to work effectively with children with autism, so that these children can have the best experience possible at the museum!

Two weeks ago, Sydnee Jorgl and Jaime Nicklas did a presentation and led a question and answer period for the Guggenheim staff. Everyone at the museum was incredibly receptive and committed to improving museum services for children with autism. During the next phase of this partnership the teaching artists will visit the BAC to observe our teaching methods. We are excited about the BAC's relationship with the Guggenheim, and will keep you updated as it progresses!

Thanks for reading this newsletter! We are looking forward to another great school year. Please continue to help us thrive by spreading the word about the BAC to your friends, families, and people you meet in the autism community!

Sincerely,

Sydnee Jorgl
