Why Calorie Restriction is a
Good Thing
Greetings!
The European Journal of Clinical Investigation just published an excellent review on the benefits of calorie restriction, including the use of compounds that mimic the calorie restriction state. Quoting from "Calorie Restriction: What recent results suggest for the future of ageing research", we repeat their conclusion:
"Whether current positive results will translate into longevity gains for humans remains an open question. However, the apparent health benefits that have been observed with CR suggest that regardless of longevity gains, the promotion of healthy ageing and disease prevention may be attainable."
The journal looks directly at the question of "Even if CR works in monkeys, will CR work in Humans?", and state:
"...because of the breadth of organisms that respond favourably to CR, the potentially conserved molecular and cellular mechanisms, and the evidence from the nonhuman primate and short- to medium-term human studies, it is reasonable to expect that the observed health benefits would translate into longevity gains."
The journal also looks at the question of CR mimetics, "Is there a short-cut to CR?"
"....identifying the genetic and physiological mediators of CR could aid in the discovery of compounds/treatments that would act on those pathways, thereby mimicking the positive aspects of CR without imposed food restriction."
In a separate journal (Aging Cell (2009)), oxaloacetate, a natural human metabolite, has already been identified as a calorie restriction mimetic compound. The mechanism is the increase in the NAD+/NADH ratio which activates AMP protein activated Kinase (AMPK), and leads to genomic changes that increase lifespan
benaGene brand oxaloacetate provides 100 times the normal amount of oxaloacetate that is received in a typical diet. Supplementation with this natural human metabolite provides a mechanism to positively modify enzyme response and provide benefit to patients with a variety of issues.

We have had two recent peer-reviewed publications.
The most recent is " Oxaloacetic Acid Supplementation as a Mimic of Calorie Restriction". To down-load this free paper, go to http://www.bentham.org/open/tolsj/openaccess2.htm click on "Hot Topic" calorie restriction mimetics, and download full article. Alternately, you can send me an e-mail at acash@benaGene.org and I will send you the paper. Thanks for your interest !
Our previous paper "Oxaloacetate Increases Lifespan", which documented a 25% increase in lifespan using oxaloacetate supplementation is available here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19793063 |

| About benaGene | |
benaGene is a new concept in nutritional supplements. Composed of Vitamin C and the natural human metabolite oxaloacetate in order to mimic a calorie restricted state, benaGene positively affects gene expression. benaGene has been proven to increase the lifespan of laboratory animals by 25% (p << 0.001).
You can benefit with benaGene by providing glucose system support in addition to receiving the anti-aging benefits. A powerful natural AMPK activator, oxaloacetate has been shown to lower fasting glucose levels in a clinical trial. Additionally, benaGene is an excellent choice after a diet in order to reduce weight rebound as benaGene down-regulates the genes that produce and store fat (by approximately 50%, animal studies).
benaGene is available at your anti-aging, functional medicine and naturopathic doctors as well as at our website store at www.benaGene.com/buy_benagene . |
Thank you for your interest in benaGene. For more information, go to our information web site at www.benaGene.com. If you have any questions concerning this dietary supplement, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Whereas we do not provide medical advice, we can provide you with the references and research we have done in regards to oxaloacetic acid supplementation. We have tremendous science behind benaGene, but the science will not help anyone if benaGene is not used. Please help us to spread the word about this unique dietary supplement.
Sincerely,
