Technical Details

Here are some technical details around the new release. For more information view the wiki at webclientiplus.com
  1. Plex programs generated with CA Plex v6.1 can now be used with WebClient.
  2. The built-in system templates and Dojo Javascript toolkit have been updated to include cross-browser compatibility for Firefox 3+, IE 7+, and Safari 4+.
  3. Websydian runtime libraries are no longer required to use WebClient. WebClient may still however be used with Websydian Express for Java. For information on deploying WebClient with Websydian, please refer to Deploying WebClient with Websydian Express for Java.
  4. The property file for Websydian, J2eeProxy.prop, has been removed in favor of a new property file, WebClient.properties. If J2eeProxy.prop is found, it will converted to the new property file format. For more information on upgrading from an older version of WebClient, please see Upgrading to WebClient 1.6.
  5. Static HTML, JavaScript, and CSS resources can now be deployed from within a JAR file as according to J2EE Servlet 3.0 specification. This mode is supported even if you do not hae a Servlet 3.0-compliant web container. For more information, see Servlet 3.0 Template Resource Deployment.
  6. A mechanism for extending WebClient within Eclipse is provided. This allows packages of control templates to be easily aded to your workspace. One such addition is the Advanced Controls template set, TreeView and FlexGrid.
TreeView and FlexGrid

TreeView

CA Plex Active Pattern Library TreeView and FlexGrid will be supported as a WebClient optional feature. Add this capability to your application by simple inheritance from your existing CA Plex functions. For more information, please visit this blog entry.
