Website and Computer tips

Have you Googled yourself lately? I Google "Tammy Finch" randomly to see what's out there. I am surprised of my rankings. The top 3 are social media websites, then my own website. My reviews on Amazon (from things I purchased) are on the first page. Little things like that pay off in a big way when working with search engines.

I also use Google Alerts, a free program, that send me an email on my gmail account whenever someone Googles "Tammy Finch" or "MiniTech Conference". It's a great tool to use to track searches by keywords.

Using Blogs on Your Website

Blogging is a "web-log" People use it to keep in touch with clients or provide information about happenings in their company or themselves if you are a single business owner.

I love the Web Tech Services new blogging tool. It is easy to use and we have several people using them now. I decided to start practicing what I preach by using the Web Tech Services blog. You can view it here.

Users can set up their own categories and there is no monthly fee now. Only a small $50 set up fee and you can blog as much as you like. What does this do for your website? It helps your search engine rankings by providing updated and fresh content. Minor Computer Maintenance

Be sure to run Scandisk and Defrag REGULARLY!    Run Scandisk First.
To run a ScanDisk on XP....

    Double left Click My Computer.
    Right click on "C" Drive.
    Click Properties.
    Click Tools.
    To do a Scandisk Click check now.
    Put a check in both boxes "Automatically Fix File System Errors" and "Scan for and attempt Recovery of Bad Sectors".
    Then click Start.
    Now when asked "Do you want to Schedule this Disk Check to occur the next time you Restart the Computer",
    Click Yes.
    Now Restart your Computer.
    Also be sure to empty the Recycle Bin !

Defrag

    Double left Click My Computer.
    Right click on "C" Drive.
    Click Properties.
    Click Tools.
    Click on Defragment Now
    Click on Defragment

New Social Media / Workshop Info

I appreciate some of you coming out to the Social Media workshop Feb. 24th. I see some of you took advantage of the information and started your own Facebook business pages. Please keep in mind that this doesn't replace Search Engine Optimization but it certainly does help!

We added on a few more social media maintenance clients who are using this to bring traffic to their website. I also added a few more workshops including my Internet Marketing Workshop March 24th. During that workshop, we will discuss landing pages, ways to market your business online, and blogs. It should be fun. Sign up online or call the store to register. Only $25.
