On the Lighter Side |
Each year, the Washington Post publishes winning submissions to its yearly neologism contest, in which readers are asked to supply alternative meanings for common words . . .
1. Coffee (n.), the person upon whom one coughs.
2. Flabbergasted (adj.), appalled over how much weight you have gained.
3. Abdicate (v.), to give up all hope of ever having a flat stomach.
4. Esplanade (v.), to attempt an explanation while drunk.
5. Negligent (adj.), describes a condition in which you absentmindedly answer the door in your nightgown.

Paperless Office - Emaiing from MAS - Webinar |
In Sage MAS 90 / 200 v4.30, the Paperless Office module was introduced as part of the base software.
The Paperless Office module has 3 components to it:
- Print Journals and Registers to PDF automatically (a huge savings on paper and filing costs)
- Print Period End Reports to PDF automatically
- Print forms (invoices, statements, orders) to PDF and email them to customers or vendors
Most of our Sage MAS 90 / 200 users have taken advantage of the first two aspects of Paperless Office, but getting the emailing function up and running has been more of a challenge.
On Wed, Oct 27, at 10:00 am, we will be hosting a 90 minute webinar where you will learn all you need to know to set this up. The initial set up is fairly straight forward, but changing your workflow seems to be the biggest hurdle that most clients face. Our webinar will encompass both the setup of the emailing solution and also the review of workflow.
The cost for this webinar is $100 (plus HST) per connection. (As long as you are connecting to the webinar from a single machine, many users from the same company can attend the session at the same time for the cost of $100.)
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask by clicking here. This webinar will be valuable for anyone who has already implemented emailing orders/invoices or planning on emailing orders/invoices.

Product Updates - Wow! |
With the release of v4.4 of Sage MAS 90 / 200, Sage is sharing information like they have never done before! Here is some information that you might find interesting. Two product updates have already been released since the start of this year.
- Product Update 3 for v4.4 was released earlier this week. Along with general software 'bug fixes', usuability enhancements were made to the Bank Reconciliation module. You can now enter bank service charges or other adjustments directly in the Bank Reconcilation module and have these post to the General Ledger. Users who previously posted bank transactions through the GL Transaction Journal Entry task can now enter these directly in the Bank Reconcilation module.
- Product Update 4 is scheduled for Dec 2010. The planned changes encompass US payroll, so most of our Canadian users will not see much direct impact on this update
- Product Update 5 is scheduled for March 2011. Keep in mind that these changes are planned only and changes may be made to the planned usability enhancements
- Inactive item designation
- Security for item inquiry
- Physical count entry by ticket number
- Background color by company code
- Multiple company Aged Invoice Report (AP)
- Distribution table for invoice entry (AP)
- Additional check printing sort option
A completely new Sage MAS 200 SQL ERP system is already in beta testing. A full release of this version (v4.45) is planned for later this year. For users with large datasets, this version will be able to handle the workload with ease.
A few years ago, Sage introduced the Extended Enterprise Suite (EES) for Sage MAS 90 / 200. The EES version is a fully integrated ERP, CRM and Fixed Asset system. The current product roadmap indicates the standard MAS 90 / 200 ERP version will be fully merged with the EES version in Q3, 2011 (v4.5). Details will follow.
The product roadmap for v4.6 (2012) shows that some or all of these features may be included
- Increase length of the AP invoice number field
- Ability to inactivate customers and vendors
- Multiple bin locations per warehouse
- Receive one invoice against multiple POs
- Make PO history work like SO history
- Expand decimal precision
You can see that there are lots of changes being planned. If you'd like to have your say in future usability enhancements, be sure to register your vote for new features. Go to the Sage MAS ideas website by clicking here. This link is available from all of our newsletters in the Quick Links section on the left.
Keep in mind that the planned features are not cast in stone. Release dates and usability enhancements are subject to change.
