Highlights from Sage Software Partner Conference

Last month, we attended the annual Insights conference in Nashville.  Although a bit smaller than the previous year, it was well attended.

Highlights include:
  • Sage MAS 90 / 200 version 4.4 is ready to start beta testing this summer; final release is expected in first quarter 2010
  • About 6 months after the relase of v4.4, a renewed SQL version of the software will be available.  Although details of this renewed version are not available, it is a signficant announcement for our clients and prospects who have been waiting for an updated SQL version

A few highlights of v4.4 include:

  • Inventory Management and Purchase Order Processing modules brought into the 4.x standards
  • Customer number and item number expansion
  • Vendor price level maintenance has a larger number capacity (current version has a maximum of $999!)
  • Crystal Reports v11 will be used with this version of Sage MAS 90 / 200
  • Significant improvements in terms of automation in the custom office module

Thank you to every one who has responded so far.  We will be analyzing the comments and incorporating your suggestions and questions into our future newsletters.  Here is a sampling of some of the general comments:
  • Shabnam should stop bugging Robert to cut back on his consumption of Diet Coke
  • Your response time is excellent
  • You're doing a great job of servicing your clients and updating them of new versions of the software
  • No suggestions.  Love the news letters.  Employees of Munjal White are always friendly and helpful
  • I like the news letter and I have never had a problem reaching someone to take care of any issue as it came up.  I have also always had quick response on issues of a non emergency nature as well
  • Enjoy the relationship we have with both Shabnam and Robert. Service and support are excellent

Comments on specific issues will be addressed as part of our Frequently Asked Questions section of our website

Tip of the Month - How to refund a customer
A support question that we get often is 'how do you process a customer refund in Sage MAS 90 / 200?"

For example, the customer was invoiced for $100, paid the $100 by cheque, and then returned the product and was issued a credit memo for $100.  The original invoice will now show a balance of negative $100.
  • Start by recording a $0 cash receipt in the AR module for the customer -- offsetting the negative invoice with a posting to a GL account (the GL account can be pretty much anything; we usually suggest Suspense)
  • Within the AP module, issue a manual cheque.  A new vendor can be set up or you can use the NOF (not on file) vendor.  Post the invoice to the same GL account as you did in the previous $0 cash receipt step.
  • There are other ways to do this, too, so if you have a process that works well for you, stick with it!

For specific details on this and other general questions, be sure to use the help screen within your Sage MAS 90 / 200 system.  Search the help section for 'refund a customer' and you'll find more specific instructions.
