Monthly Highlights and Special Announcements

From the President...Susan Garell
On behalf of the OAC Board, I want to congratulate the members, volunteers, supporters, and donors who helped us mark our 60th year with a wonderful 60th Anniversary Celebration on June 13th. It was a lovely event and truly a gift to the many attendees who reconnected with past memories, old friends, and even some family(!), while providing a glimpse into the terrific work the OAC continues to do today as a testament to our six decade legacy of tirelessly supporting the arts in the schools and the community. We truly value and rely on our supporters so that we might continue fulfilling the vision of our founders and many committed arts advocates that preceeded us!

For colorful summaries of the 60th Anniversary Celebrations as reported
by the Lamorinda Weekly and the Orinda News, please see the following links:

OAC at 60 Keepsake Books Still Available!
To commemorate our 60th Anniversary, the OAC created OAC at 60, a beautiful, full-color, 48 page hard cover keepsake book with more than 200 photos and clippings. It covers the OAC's 60-year history here in Orinda and you'll probably recognize many of the programs featured and the people pictured (including maybe you!)

Order your copy today! The price is $45 for one and $15 for the second, third, fourth, or as many as you would like to buy after that! All excess proceeds go to The Orinda Arts Council, to help us continue to bring arts programs to our schools and community. Please email susangarell@comcast.net and send a check for your total order to OAC, P.O. Box 121, Orinda, CA, 94563.

OAC Continues Support of Elementary School Art in OUSD
The OAC is publishing new art instruction books created by Hillery Patterson and the art teachers at the four elementary schools for all 1st and 2nd graders in the Orinda Union School District. Also, the OAC will continue its program of providing all 3rd graders in the district with art sketchbooks.

The OAC will implement an outreach program by having tables at each of the elementary school's back-to-school events to educate parents about what the council does for the Orinda schools and community.

Looking Forward to the Next 60 Years!
In addition to the wonderful work mentioned above, the OAC continues to create and sustain programs in our community to promote the arts. Orinda Idol, the High School Visual Art Competition, OIS Bulldog Theater, OUSD & Miramonte Spring Musicals, OUSD Art Ambassadors Program, the CAIFF Iron Filmmakers Contest, and participation in the Orinda's Art in Public Places Committee and the Educational Foundation of Orinda's Board, are just a few examples of the wide-reaching programs and events.

We could not, and can not, accomplish all this without the generous support of our volunteers, members and donors. The Orinda Arts Council is the only organization solely dedicated to the arts in our schools and community. Please take a moment to renew your membership, make a donation or volunteer however you can. All donations over $100 will receive a complimentary copy of our anniversary keepsake book OAC at 60! Your support is greatly appreciated.
