Greetings from Aubin Pictures!
MAY ISSUE

Welcome to the May Update for

"What's On Your Plate?"

- a documentary about kids and food politics.

We are entering the final stages of production here with a busy filming schedule.

Safiyah and Sadie are indefatigable! They showed the trailer of the film at their elementary school, and then poet, teacher and rapper Idris Goodwin did a fantastic spoken word performance called "What is they feedin' our kids." The girls and Idris handily took questions from the incredibly enthusiastic kids who had a lot to say about their school lunch.

Safiyah and Sadie also interviewed Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer who discussed his efforts to build communities around healthy eating from East Harlem to the Lower East Side. He praised the girls for their efforts on behalf of their generation, and his office has pledged to help us with outreach when the film is done.

We plan to begin editing in July with Martin Levenstein and are working toward a January completion date.

We would like to welcome and thank the following advisors who have joined our team:

MICHAEL POLLAN (author: Omnivore's Dilemma; In Defense of Food)
JOHN JOHNSON (founder of Eyebeam)
KATRINA MONZON (food activist and teacher)
AARON WOOLF (filmmaker: King Corn)

At this stage, we're actively pursuing the funds to finish the film. Please let us know if you have any suggestions for potential funders or if you know people who might be interested in more information about the project.
