Can you believe that it is really October?

I have a special prayer request for you today. Today is the first day of this month. On the last day of this month is our Trunk 'er Treat. It is an outreach event to our community.

Who will you invite? Who will you bring? Have you donated candy?

It won't be much of an outreach event if you don't do those things, now will it?

Are you on facebook? Who have you invited? Who have you asked to come with you?

Are you using every opportunity you have to bring others to the church?

Who knows what would happen?

Well, I do.

I'm going to tell you about a family. I'm not going to use their names, because I didn't ask if I could use their story. But they are real.

They are a family who someone cared enough about to invite them to the Easter Eggstravaganza outreach event. They invited them to come. They came. Their kids had a great time. They came back to church on Sunday. They went through the church membership class. They joined the church.

Today, that family is here every Sunday morning and every Wednesday night. How do I know? Because they now teach in our children's ministry on both Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings; and I see them.

That's outreach.

But it began with a decision. Someone decided to invite them. Someone decided that an outreach event wasn't just something for others to think about or do. It was for them.

Outreach is for you. So who will it be? Do you know yet? Why not?
