Road Time
For the most part, I like travel. I don't even mind traveling by myself. I have taken a number of long "solo" trips. I like to keep moving. (It's hard to hit a moving target, don't you know?).
This week, I'm not traveling solo. I've spent a lot of time on the road with Mom and Dad. In fact, tomorrow we start back from our vacation. Even though I'm writing this before the trip, I know full well, this has been a great week for Mom and Dad. They have relished the time with dear friends. They have spent more hours with playing Rook with their old Rook partners than you want to know!
But it is Road Time. Time to get back to home.
It's time to get back to normal.
Is "Road Time" part of your normal journey? It should be.
I'm not talking cars. I'm not talking vacation.
When Jesus called the disciples he extended an invitation. Our bibles translate that "come follow me". Perhaps a more literal and accurate word picture of what Jesus said was simply "walk with me". It was more than an invitation to a stroll. It was a call to new way of living.
It was Jesus call to "Road Time": to align your life to his destination and allow him to set the pace, and direction.
Jesus expects us "on the road" to walk with him. He calls us to align our live to his priorities. He requires that we let Him set the direction.
Don't become so busy in all your "normal" demands of life that you forget that Road Time is the essential calling of Christ on your life.
- Have you talked to Jesus today? Seems to me if you are traveling with someone you ought to share a conversation.
- Have you listened to Jesus today? Seems to me that if you are really letting Jesus set the direction you would listen to His Word.
- Are you keeping pace with Jesus today? Seems to me that if you really walking with him, that you don't run ahead or drag along far behind. You keep pace-so the conversation can continue.
Just wondering, if it is Road Time for you today?
