RU CRAZY afterglow
During this week following the RU CRAZY halfway celebration, I wanted us all to focus our prayers on this vital part of the vision of New Work Fellowship. Will you pray with focus toward the vision that God gave us as a church?
Attractional.
That was one of the words that used all through the RU CRAZY spiritual emphasis. Some of the components of the vision were missional: like the Haiti wells. Some of the components were responsible: like the parking lot. But many parts of RU CRAZY were attractional: drawing people to Jesus Christ through the ministry of the church.
The Playground is Attractional! Just watch how kids are drawn to the playground. During the week, you can often see a car or two parked at the church while their children play on the playground. I talked with one family just this past Sunday who talked about how it was their kids that "drew them to New Work Fellowship". That is where they wanted to go! Would you pray that God would use a simple playground to draw families to himself?
The Parking Lot is now Attractional! We thought it was just good stewardship to take care of what God had given us in the parking lot. But now, through the Motorcycle Safety courses that will be soon offered at New Work Fellowship, there will be people drawn to our church facility that might not have ever stepped through the doors! They will be on campus Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays. There will certainly be adjustments as we open our doors. So pray that our hearts remain tender and that we remember that the building, and even the parking lot is not "ours"-but is a tool that God has given to us to glorify Him. Pray that God will open the doors and pave the way for those who think they are coming to a safety course, but will in addition find a church home and a Savior!
The Marketing and Media is Attractional! Would you continue to pray that as we reach out that God will draw unto Himself men, women and children from all over this region. That the TV commercials will connect with hearts. That the barn, window decals, and electronic signs would touch lives. Would you pray that God's grace and would be experienced in the lives of people as they visit the website, and as they watch sermon and worship videos. Would you pray that God would expand our ministry, quite literally around the world?
But let's not just pray outwardly. Let's turn the focus inward as well. Would you pray that your life would become "attractional"? That people around you: family members, friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc.; would find in you something that is so "attractive" in your faith and confidence in God-that they too would long for what you have.
Would you pray that you would have the resolve to share with those same people the rich relationship that you have with Jesus Christ? Would you pray that you would have the courage to invite a friend to church?
