Greetings!

A tale of two men.

Read the following passage of scripture and pay particular attention to the two men: Simon Peter and Judas Iscariot.

Read Mark 14

Just a few observations to consider in light of the passage of scripture.

Both of them failed on the same night. They were in the same group of those close to Jesus. They both had hopes of God bringing in His Kingdom. They were both utter failures. Consider the similarities:

  1. They both were ambitious and influential.
  2. They both chose to follow Jesus as disciples.
  3. There were times when both questioned Jesus leadership decisions.
  4. Both failed Jesus and turned from their commitment.
  5. Both experienced and felt incredible grief due to their failure.

But they had very different ends following their failure.

One became the leader of the church.

The other took his own life in a moment of despair and an attempt to atone for his own sin.

What was the difference?

One ran from God.

The other ran to God.

What direction are you headed today? Who do you know that needs this message? Would you be so bold as to share this insight with the person that God just placed on your heart? Maybe your gentle and loving encouragement could be the thing that changes their direction.

We all fail. But it need not destroy us.

Run to God.
