Lately there have been an inordinate number of red faced executives of small (1 - 50 employees) and mid-sized (51 - 99) employer companies headquartered in Massachusetts. The cause of their angst is the magnitude of the health insurance renewal rate increases that they have been presented with in recent weeks. Many of these employers have done all of the right things over the past several years; implementing wellness initiatives, benefit buy downs and, in some instances, high deductible consumer driven plans. All of this, only to be rewarded with huge rate increases during the most challenging economic times of our generation. So what has gone so terribly wrong? 2009 Flu Vaccinations - UPDATE

As we discussed in our September Newsletter, the single best way to prevent the flu is for individuals, especially people at high risk for serious complications from the flu, to get a flu vaccination. However, we have since learned that there is limited supply of the Seasonal Vaccination as well as a delay in the delivery of the H1N1 vaccination. As an Employer, it is best to encourage your employees to contact their Primary Care Physician with questions regarding vaccination information and availability. Also, refer to the following websites for up to date and accurate information about both the Seasonal and H1N1 flu vaccinations; www.cdc.gov and www.flu.gov.
