News from Cape Abilities
June 21st is the Official Start of Summer
It is the official start of summer, and it seems as if everyone has arrived on Cape Cod to celebrate. We've had some great weather this past week and that translates to especially tasty tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, eggplant and cucumbers. Come early for the best selection. The farmstand in Dennis opens at 10 AM.

If you plan on firing up the grill over the weekend, you might want to try some grilled eggplant - it is easy and delicious. For a simple recipe, and other eggplant ideas, click here.

Tomato update: Unfortunately, the FDA is still tracking the salmonella outbreak to certain types of tomatoes. Tomatoes grown in Massachusetts - including tomatoes grown at Cape Abilities Farm - have not been associated with the problem. Special on Hanging Plants - Only $15 Each!

Hanging plants
Our beautiful hanging plants have been carefully tended and cultivated in our greenhouses. Each hanging plant that we grow provides jobs for people with disabilities from Cape Abilities.

We are especially proud that our hanging geraniums, petunias and other blossoms grace some of the most beautiful homes on Cape Cod this season. We hope that you will buy one of our hanging plants, enjoy its beauty and share our story with your family and friends.

Note: Thank you to everyone who wrote with suggestions on the best way to water the hanging geranium basket that is now home to a bird's nest. The consensus seems to be - forget the hose - and water carefully from a watering can with a long spout. It's surprising to learn how many birds have built nests in hanging plants across Cape Cod.
Summer means Strawberries

Strawberries
"Doubtless God could have made a better berry, but doubtless God never did."
William Butler (1535-1618)
We agree, strawberries are the best. Organic strawberries, grown at Cape Cod Organic Farm in Barnstable, are now for sale at our Farm in Dennis. Stop by for a quart - or two.
