I don't normally write reviews but I love this product and the primer so much, that I'm making the effort to do so. I usually wear the pure pressed base (golden glow), but now I live in a warmer climate (Hawaii) so I wanted to try a liquid foundation as I'm finding I look a little washed out by the end of the day when using my powder. I purchased the smooth affair primer and the Glow Time BB7 and used it for the first time yesterday... AMAZING! I went out on a boat and was in the heat for quite some time. By the end of the day my skin still looked fresh, moisturized, young and vibrant. I AM SOOOO IMPRESSED. It feels great - once it's on you don't even remember it's on. It smells even better and I am just SO SO SO SO SO HAPPY! For anyone looking for a more dewy look over a powder I'd recommend this! I will still use my powder when I go out at night as I love the look of the powder, but for a more active daytime perfect coverage (with SPF) I'm definitely sticking with this!! |

How helpful is massage?
 A study was just completed by McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, showing the biochemical effects of massage within the muscle. The study was on 11 men in their 20's who bicycled vigorously then after a short rest period, a massage therapist massaged just one leg of each man for only 10 minutes. Muscle biopsies were performed on each leg immediately afterward and several hours later. Each biopsy showed the massaged leg to have mitochondria (cells that are essential for healing), and reduced inflammatory response. With the results being so distinct with only 10 minutes of massage can you imagine the healing that takes place with an hour massage?

A Three Part Series
Part I
Ingredient Technology
Over the past 14 years working as an aesthetician, I am often asked if a product is good and if it will work. After reading labels of products in the drug stores, department stores, and Doctor's offices here are my general guidelines on ingredients:
Avoid the following:
Artificial Colors, Artificial Fragrance, Mineral Oil, Lanolin Oil,
SD-Alcohol (usually followed by some # i.e., 30, 40, 50)
Look for the Ingredients
Active vs. Inactive Ingredients
There are two main groups in cosmetic product formulations - active and inactive. Active ingredients should have an effect on the skin; they are added to a product to carry out an action. (Refer to chart below). For example, retinol may be added to speed cellular turnover (exfoliation). Inactive ingredients are included to help deliver the active ingredients, as well as preserve the product and make it aesthetically pleasing. Inactive ingredients include buffers, coloring agents, emulsifying agents, fragrances, preservatives, solvents, thickeners, and "vehicles". Each of these inactive ingredients has its own function or multiple functions for making the product effective. The manner in which the product is formulated is equally as important. If products are not formulated correctly, they may be ineffective or potentially harmful.

This ingredient should not be compared to Botox, which is a pharmeceutical drug. | | Epigallcatechin gallete (EGCG) | Derived from green tea, this is a powerful anti-inflammatory, that is often used with other antioxidants, as well as in products used to treat acne. | | Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) | Used to help stimulate repair by reducing inflammation, EGF also enhances epidermal growth and keratinazation. | | Glycolic Acid | An Alpha hydroxy acid known for its exfoliating properties, glycolic acid helps strengthen collagen and increase cell renewal. | | Retinol | Known as a skin-normalizer, retinol increases cellular turnover collagen production and circulation within the skin | | Salicylic Acid | This is a lipid-soluable hydroxy acid that helps to break down comedones, as well as dissolve dead surface cells. It comes from the bark of a willow tree, and also acts as anti-inflammatory. Salicylic acid is AKA "asprin" and should be used cautiously with children and during pregnancy. | | Hyaluronic Acid | MY PERSONAL FAVORITE!! A natural occurring polysaccharide in the dermis, hyaluronic acid delivers moisture to the dehydrated skin. It also provides a healthy environment for the growth of new cells. | | Emblica | This skin-lightening agent, commonly used to even skin tone, is and antioxidant that also has strong anti-inflammatory properties. | | Resveratrol | A potent antioxidant found in grape skin, resveratrol works as a matrix metalloproteinase inhibitor (MMPi), which helps to preserve the structure and function of the skin. |
