Visit us at the State Fair
Stop by the Citizens League booth (in the State Fair Chautauqua Big Top Tent, just east of Heritage Square) during the mornings of August 21, 25, 26, 27, and 28. You can visit with staff and volunteers, make a video answering the question "What does it mean to be a Minnesotan?" and be among the first to use CitiZing!, the first-ever online civic engagement platform, and our new property tax tool. We'll see you at the Fair!

Action Group Constructing Rain Garden at St. Paul School
The Citizens League's Energy and Environment Action Group and students at St. Bernard's School will reduce pollutants in storm water runoff in the school's urban environment by constructing a rain garden in late August. Students will maintain the garden as part of a service-learning project. The Action Group is supporting the project by providing the schools with donated native plants, volunteers, consultations with environmental planning and education experts, and fundraising for the project. Annual Meeting Postponed
For reasons related to
current staff capacity, a strong interest on the part of members and staff in
focusing on post-election priorities for 2009, and potential pre-election timing
conflicts (e.g. debates), we have decided to postpone the Annual Meeting to November. We believe this
will help us involve members and community partners in delivering a meeting that
meets expectations based on previous annual meetings, helps us set our course
for 2009, and will reflect what we have learned and accomplished in 2008. We
apologize for the delay, hope to have a new date set soon, and will be looking
for members to take the lead in some aspects of planning. Thanks for your
patience and understanding.
