Greetings Citizens League supporters:

This is the first edition of the Citizens League's new email newsletter. We hope this new format will make our emails easier to read.

(Is this email hard to read? Many email programs require users to right-click and give permission to download pictures. Doing this should greatly improve the appearance of this email.)

Over the next couple months, we will be testing out various options for the format and content of these newsletters, and we would greatly appreciate your feedback. Please take a moment to let us know what you think.

Thank you!

IN THIS ISSUE
  • Policy Advancement in the 2008 Legislative Session
  • Help Us Decide: Improve the Email Newsletter

  • Policy Advancement in the 2008 Legislative Session

Important Citizens League positions were advanced through legislation in the 2008 session, including:
    • Reducing congestion along the 35W corridor with the Urban Partnership Agreement. The UPA is going forward, thanks to $55 million in state funds to match a federal contribution of $133 million.
    • The University of Minnesota will receive funding to study value capture, recommended by our 2005 report "Driving Blind" as a mechanism to fund transportation investments.
    • Important progress in tax and health care policy.
Visit the Citizens League policy blog to learn more.

Help Us Decide: Improve This Newsletter

Reader feedback is very important as we test out various options for the new email newsletter. We want this to be useful and easy to read.

Please take a moment to give us criticism and suggestions
    . (It's very short -- only 4 questions long.)

    Thank you!

By the way: You will see "Help Us Decide" as an occasional feature of the new Citizens League newsletter as a way for us to take advantage of our members' good thinking and great ideas.
