Looking For My Sister
Local Survivor of Domestic Violence Speaks Out on Dr. Phil Show
DETROIT - The movement to end domestic violence is comprised of advocates from all over our state; each with stories. Many of these individuals are survivors themselves, like Jaycee Memminger, Program Director at Looking for My Sister who was ambushed, shot by her ex-husband in her face twice and left for dead. She is one of the fortunate ones whose life was spared! Survivors are victims of domestic violence who continue to live productive lives beyond the abuse. In the process of healing, many survivors find strength in telling their stories to others, with the hope to provide the type of insight and inspiration that can save lives.
Jaycee Memminger's story was originally aired on FOX2 News and now her miraculous recovery and fight for survival will be aired on the Dr. Phil show on Monday March 31st at 7pm EST.
Each time a domestic violence story is covered, the media has an opportunity to save lives by helping domestic violence organizations like Looking for My Sister (a domestic violence organization located in Detroit ) with their mission to work toward the prevention of domestic violence, through education and outreach.
The number of victims continues to rise. Many are not as lucky as Jaycee. Watch the story and please get involved in the movement to end domestic violence in your community!
