Greetings!

Wisconsin Waterfowl Association needs your help. One of our largest funding sources, the State & Tribal Wildlife Grants program is in danger of being eliminated.  Without these grants many of our habitat restoration projects would go unfunded, greatly affecting Wisconsin's waterfowl and wetland landscape.  Please read on below to see what you can do to help.

See you on the water,

A Decade of Successful Fish & Wildlife Conservation in Jeopardy

Call your member of the

US House of Representatives TODAY and ask them to
OPPOSE the continuing resolution.

The FY11 spending plan, or Continuing Resolution (CR), that will fund the federal government this year will be voted on in the US House of Representatives early this week. The CR would eliminate funding for the successful State & Tribal Wildlife Grants Program.  Calls from members of the Teaming with Wildlife Coalition are urgently needed today, tomorrow, and Thursday to save this program!

These are troubling and difficult fiscal times and everyone needs to do their part to reduce the deficit.  But the State & Tribal Wildlife Grants Program and North American Wetland Conservation Act were singled out to receive a
100%

cut in funding instead of a proportional reduction.

The State & Tribal Wildlife Grants Program is the nation's core program for preventing wildlife from becoming endangered.  Last year the program received $90 million, which was shared across every state/territorial fish & wildlife agency to conserve at-risk fish and wildlife.

A lot is at stake if we lose the State & Tribal Wildlife Grants Program:

·        More species would become endangered

·        Native habitat would become more degraded

·        Costs for species recovery would skyrocket

·        More regulations would be put into place

·        State Wildlife Action Plans would be eliminated

·        State Wildlife Diversity jobs would be eliminated

ACT NOW on behalf of our nation's fish & wildlife by calling your member of the US House of Representatives to ask them to OPPOSE the Continuing Resolution.  Calls can be made up through Thursday, Feb. 17.  We will keep you posted on the voting process.
