Greetings! |
This Tuesday, March 23, Beverly Sloane, our branch Program Vice President will start us writing our memoirs. Bev is a published author and teaches memoir writing at the Bard Life Time Learning Institute.
We're also gearing up for Fair Pay Day. Women will work from January 2009 until April 20, 2010 to make the same amount a man working in a comparable job earned in 2009.

March Branch Meeting
Writing Our Memoirs |
Our own Beverly Sloane will offer a program on:
Writing Our Memoirs
Tuesday, March 23, 2010 6:30 to 7:45 PM Kingston Library
1st Floor (in front of the local history room)
55 Franklin Street
Kingston, NY
We will examine the several ingredients that go into writing a compelling memoir: dialogue, setting, anecdotes, voice, and humor. The emphasis will be on showing rather than telling.
We will explore how to begin writing your memoir, how to overcome writers block, and finding your own voice. There will be written exercises in free writing and constructive feedback from other students and the lecturer. We will also learn how to evaluate your own writing and the writing of others.
This session will offer tools to help you jump start and sustain the writing of your memoir. Bring paper and your favorite pen or pencil.
Please note: we will not have refreshments at this meeting and the library closes at 8 PM.
Non-members: suggested $10 donation to the Branch scholarship fund |
