August 29th- Yoga for Self-Care
|
|
As the month of August draws to a close and the days are becoming shorter, it is clear that the gradual shift toward the cooler, damper, darker days of fall is underway. Life may be getting busier as the kids head back to school and vacations are coming to a close. Depending on your occupation, things might also be ramping up at work after a quiet summer.
This seasonal transition that literally and symbolically represents a return to the inside provides great opportunity to look at the role that restorative practices play or could potentially play in your self-care regimen. Do you often feel depleted and run down from trying to fulfill all of your daily obligations? How much time do you allow yourself to simply rest? When the pace of life becomes unmanageable, it's important to know your resources. We want you to be aware of several restorative class options available to you here at the studio throughout this fall. These can accompany your regular yoga practice, acting as both a maintenance regimen for the nerves and a much-needed refuge from the stress of daily life.
Beginning this September, let us be your guide for:
Restorative Yoga: 3rd Friday of each month, 6-8pm iRest: 1st Saturday of the month, 1-3pm
Leslie will also be offering a workshop on the therapeutic applications of yoga for headaches and sleep, which will cover restorative postures and breathing techniques to release tension and improve the body's ability to relax fully (see workshop details below in "Coming Up".)

Holidays provide a great opportunity to come to a class you might not make it to during a typical week. Hope to see you on the mat if you're in town!

As yoga practitioners, we all come from different spiritual foundations. This 3 week intro series honors that notion, offering those of Christian faith the opportunity to experience yoga classes guided by scripture, prayer and worship poses. Depending on interest, we are looking to offer an ongoing Holy Yoga class starting this fall.
Sunday, September 16th 12-2pm Do you suffer from frequent headaches? Explore common headache triggers and yogic techniques that can be used to calm head and neck tension. We'll also cover restorative poses that can help improve the quality of your sleep. |
