August 22nd- Yoga Injuries: Facts & Fiction
|
Since the New York Times published the article "How Yoga Can Wreck Your Body" earlier this year, there has been a lot of controversy stirring in some circles about yoga being a harsh physical activity that will cause irreparable damage to your body-- one that could even cause you to have a stroke, according to author William J. Broad. But on the flip side of this conversation, we now have hundreds of studies documenting yoga's benefits, both physical and emotional. So how are we supposed to know what to believe? This coming Saturday, YogaUOnline, a leading resource in online yoga education, is sponsoring "Yoga Injuries: Facts & Fiction", a free online telesummit. This seminar will include input from several well-known yoga instructors and medical professionals, including Judith Lasater, Julie Gudmestad and Timothy McCall, M.D., among many others. Tune in for an informative session that will help bring clarity to all that we've been hearing from the media.
We wanted to share this online seminar with you, our students, so that you may spend some time exploring this discussion surrounding yoga injuries more deeply if you so desire. Visit the link below for more information and to join the conversation.

As yoga practitioners, we all come from different spiritual foundations. This 3 week intro series honors that notion, offering those of Christian faith the opportunity to experience yoga classes guided by scripture, prayer and worship poses. Depending on interest, we are looking to offer an ongoing Holy Yoga class starting this fall.
