April 25- Yoga for Change, Yoga for Good

Right now, in programs all across the country, yoga is being taught as a tool for personal growth to many different populations who would otherwise not have access to it. Right here in Portland, we are blessed with two very well-known non-profits involved with this work: Living Yoga and Street Yoga. These volunteer-driven organizations are helping people turn their lives around, one breath at a time, by offering yoga classes to those in prison, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, survivors of domestic violence and people experiencing homelessness, to name a few. In doing so, they play a vital role in dissolving stereotypes about yoga and those who practice it, and in turn, how society views these populations. For in the end, it is important to remember that there really is no "other". We exist as one global community, ultimately working toward the same goals of health and happiness.

We hope you'll join HeartSong in supporting Living Yoga by becoming a team member for this year's 3rd annual Yogathon.

The kick-off party is happening at Yoga on Yamhill this Saturday, April 28 from 12-2pm. Leslie will be teaching a free class, so come on down and get your month of fundraising started off right!

We're pleased to be offering two more Saturday sessions of this empowering, sensory-based movement practice, in addition to a regular Thursday morning class beginning in May. If you're looking to reconnect with your creative potential while getting a great workout, drop in and give Nia a try!

Know someone who's been meaning to try yoga? Our intro to yoga series' offer beginners a safe and welcoming environment in which to explore yoga with other beginners.  Help us get the word out!
