April 10- Spring Wellness Through Ayurveda
|
Spring proves to be an inspiring time, marking the return of those longer days, warm temperatures and bright sunlight that beckon us to go play outdoors. However, for many of us, this renewed eagerness to get back outside into nature also brings about the discomfort seasonal allergies. Sometimes it feels easiest to turn to over-the-counter medications to soothe the symptoms, but it's important to note that in some cases, your yoga practice along with a little Ayurvedic know-how may be all you need to keep your allergies in check.
The key to a smooth transition out of our dark-season hibernation lies in balancing Kapha to clear out the "cobwebs" left in us from the winter. We can do this through attention to our diet, movement practices and pranayama. Read more on this topic in the attached Yoga Journal article by Scott Blossom. Don't be surprised if this natural, holistic approach leaves you saying, "Spring it On", Spring!
