The Right Reason
To God the WHY is as important as the WHAT.
Even though we may accomplish a good thing, if we do it for the wrong reason, it is not counted as a victory. Are we honest because we are afraid of getting caught? Are we considerate when we are where the public can see us - and rude behind closed doors?
Sometimes we are discouraged because we intended for something we did to help someone only to have it misunderstood or rebuffed. We tried but seemed to fail.
The good news is that God looks past the action to the motive of the heart. We are concerned about the external - He is concerned with the internal. Even when we fall short, we will be counted worthy if our purpose is to do the right and good thing.
"I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service." 1 Tim 1:12
So here is the question, "Does God use our attempts to serve Him, even when we fall short?
He can, and He does. Jesus pointed out this principle, "Thus the saying 'One sows and another reaps' is true. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor." John 4:37-38
Sometimes we sow but we don't see any good results. Let me say this, "Do not be discouraged. Keep on keeping on. Persist in doing what is good."
Galatians 6:9-10 "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."
Purpose in your heart to be faithful to the Word of the Lord.
Be faithful in serving Him to the best of your knowledge and ability.
Do not be discouraged for He will honor our efforts if our motive is honorable.
The purpose of life is a life of purpose.
Purposefully,
