Big Sur Half Marathon
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Welcome all Runners & Walkers!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Greetings!

Welcome to the Seventh Presentation of the Big Sur Half and related events!  New for 2009 are a return to gender specific shirt sizing, a slightly altered course route, and a 10 wave start designed to reduce crowding.  We are also pursuing "green" certification from ReSport and ask that you join us in our efforts to "reduce, re-use and recycle."  Learn more about what our Green Team is doing by clicking HERE.

Nearly a third of you are first time half marathoners and we would like to recognize you for taking on the 13.1 mile challenge.  First timers names will be printed in red on their bib numbers so that we will recognize you on race day and congratulate you on your accomplishment.

Finally, we welcome the deepest elite field in our seven year history.  With a $14,000 prize purse up for grabs, we look forward to a fast, exciting race.

ELITES
2009 will be offering up the strongest elite field in the history of the race. 2007 winner Macdonald Ondara will return to defend his title and Olympic Trials contender Mary Akor will be here vying for the women's title against last year's second place winner Hyvon Ngetich.  The masters field will be equally strong with both incumbents and newcomers hoping to place in the top three.  Be sure to visit the website close to race weekend for an elite update.
