SCHEDULE YOUR WORKSITE FLU SHOT CLINICS
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) and the State Health Plan are offering state agencies the opportunity to host seasonal flu shot clinics at designated worksites from September 14 to December 31, 2011. Maxim Healthcare Services, a BCBSNC vendor, will send a team to worksites to provide shots to your employees, retirees and dependents covered by the Plan or BCBSNC. Children age 4 to 17 must be accompanied by parents. Children under the age of 4 must go to a physician for seasonal flu shots. Family members and employees not covered by the Plan or BCBSNC will be charged $30 per seasonal flu shot.
Note: There is not a separate vaccine for H1N1. It is now a part of the standard flu shot.
To participate, complete the online flu shot clinic request form available on the BCBSNC website. Before hosting a clinic, health benefits representatives should read the documents posted on the Plan website and review their responsibilities. Criteria include:
- Requests must be made at least 2 weeks in advance
- The worksite must be able to guarantee that at least 25 flu shots will be given (There will be a $25 charge to the agency for each shot short of the required 25 shot minimum.)
- If you have multiple worksites, one form must be completed for each site
- Members must present a valid Plan or BCBSNC ID card and a photo ID
Plan members and dependents may also get flu shots at their doctor's office, a participating Minute Clinic (search Find a Doctor for "Convenience Care Center") or an in-network immunizing pharmacist (search Find a Doctor for "Pharmacist - Flu and Other Limited Injections"). BCBSNC will not offer seasonal flu shots at regional clinics and retail locations.
