Follow-up Enrollment Update |
|

The State Health Plan is conducting a Follow-up Enrollment in July!
Health benefits for teachers and state employees are determined by the North Carolina General Assembly. Senate Bill 323 became law May 23 and House Bill 578 was signed into law by Governor Perdue May 26, making changes to premiums, copays and deductibles that will become effective on September 1, 2011.
Since these changes affect your out-of-pocket costs, a Follow-up Enrollment will be offered and will take place July 18 - 29, 2011. During this period, members will have the opportunity to change their plan elections and add eligible dependents. To learn more about the changes taking effect on September 1, click here.
Members can expect to receive additional information on how to take advantage of this special Follow-up Enrollment period in the next few weeks. |

Jones County: A Little Place with a Lot of H.E.A.R.T.S. |
|
A little can go a long way - just ask Jones County. Jones County is North Carolina's fifth-smallest county in population, with three towns, six schools, two grocery stores, and no hospital. So when the school nursing staff saw a need to promote employee wellness, they had no choice but to take matters into their own hands. Beginning in 2007, the local school district and health department partnered together to address employee health and wellness through an employee wellness program. The school health advisory council supported the idea and, with the health department, formed a team to develop and implement a program call H.E.A.R.T.S., for Healthy Enthusiastic Active Responsible Teachers and Staff. The program provides worksite wellness resources to teachers and staff of Jones County Schools. Click here for full article. |
