ANNUAL ENROLLMENT---EMPLOYEES MUST TAKE ACTION NOW!

As we enter the last few days of Annual Enrollment, the State Health Plan is seeing a low percentage of members enrolling. If SHP primary members do not act now, they will remain on the 70/30 Basic plan. Senate Bill 323 became law May 21 and House Bill 578 was signed into law by Governor Perdue May 26 making significant changes to benefits. These legislative changes do not go into effect until September 1. The coverage members select during this Annual Enrollment period, which concludes June 8, will remain in place until September 1.

This means that the Comprehensive Wellness Initiative is in effect for July and August. If you wish to enroll on the 80/20 Standard plan for these two months, you must:
  • Attest to not using tobacco or participating in a tobacco cessation program.
  • Attest to having a Body Mass Index of less than 40 or participating in a weight management program, or having a medical condition that prevents you from attaining a Body Mass Index of less than 40.
Due to changes in premiums, the addition of an employee-only premium for the 80/20 Standard plan and cost sharing, such as copays and deductibles, which will go into effect September 1, 2011, it is necessary for the State Health Plan to conduct a second enrollment period. During this period, which will be held July 18-29, 2011, members will again have the opportunity to change their plan elections and add eligible dependents. Members will be receiving information regarding this enrollment via mail in July.

Please note: Members who wish to remain on the Plan in which they enroll during the first enrollment period will not need to do anything during the second enrollment period.

Plan members can visit State Health Plan website for enrollment information and materials. Plan members with questions should call Customer Services at 1-888-234-2416.
