Annual Enrollment

annual enrollment coverAnnual Enrollment is currently under way and continues until June 8! The State Health Plan is moving forward with the current benefit structure to allow members to participate in the Annual Enrollment process in time for the beginning of the new benefit year. Please encourage your employees to take action. The State Health Plan is aware of pending legislation waiting for the Governor's signature. Should that legislation become law, the Plan will notify agencies and members of necessary next steps in regards to any changes to premiums and cost sharing, such as copays and deductibles. Have a Question? Let Us Know!

husband and wife smilingIf you have a question regarding the State Health Plan, we're here to help. Send inquiries to HBRInquiries@shpnc.org.

The Plan has a new e-mail address where HBRs can submit questions rather than sending them to Plan employees. This will allow the Plan to better track issues through to a resolution. So remember, the next time you have a question, send it to HBRInquiries@shpnc.org.

Remember, the HBR Hotline is also a great resource.

Affordable Care Act Update: Form 1099

On April 14, 2011, President Obama signed into law a modest change to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The law, the "Comprehensive 1099 Taxpayer Protection and Repayment of Exchange Subsidy Overpayments Act of 2011," eliminates the ACA's revision to the Form 1099 tax-reporting requirement.

The change to Form 1099 does not affect the requirement to report the value of health care coverage on Form W-2. The W-2 reporting requirement continues in effect, but is optional for 2011.

For more information on the W-2 reporting requirement, visit the IRS website. For further details, click here.
