Bavarian Brevity, Leaf Peepers,
and the Return of the Hot Tubbers!

Fall 2009

Karen & Rich Avery, Owners The hot springs on the property of the Box Canyon Lodge were first used by the Ute Indians, the original settlers of the beautiful Ouray valley. By the 1870's, white men had come to the mountains surrounding Ouray in search of gold and silver and surely soaked in the soothing hot waters so abundant in and around Ouray. Today, the hot springs are enjoyed in both summer and winter.

Now, as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary as the Box Canyon Lodge and Hot Springs, we are proud to say that for 50 years old, we never looked better!  Whether you have stayed here many times, or have just found us, we welcome you to take a moment and read all about the different projects we have been undertaking over the past year to bring you more value for your dollar and doing our own part in keeping our valley beautiful.

Warm Regards,

Rich and Karen Avery
