It's a Leap Year!February 29th falls on a Friday this year. So, how are you going to enjoy this extra day of your life? Don't waste it on the same old thing, get out and try something new. Ouray has many exciting opportunities that involve outdoor fun and some of them are as relaxing as sitting in some hot springs and watching the sun shine! Others are much more physical but can be very exhilerating as well.
Vinegar Hill, at the corners of 5th & 5th (5th Avenue & 5th Street) is closed during the season to car traffic and is a great sledding hill. This has been Ouray's sledding hill for over 100 years. Load up the kids, bring the sleds, and your camera. You won't regret it as the kids will be worn out but won't forget their time on the hill.
If you are prepared to skate, the ice rink is open and the ice is as good as it has been in years. A local man, Will, has been working hard since December, ensuring a great surface. There is no charge but bring your skates as there are no rentals available at this time.
Last, but not least, you can always bring the kids to ski on the Lee's ski hill. It is open daily (after school of course) and on the weekends from noon til 4ish. The price is right (free)!
We hope that we will see you soon!
