Keynote Speaker: Steven L. Layne

Steven Layne"Why God Made Librarians"
The power and impact of story is unparalleled; University professor and award-winning children's/young adult author Steven L. Layne inspires listeners with a look at just how powerful story can be, and along the way he truly honors those who care for stories the most--librarians!
As always, Steven draws forth a few tears, a lot of laughs, and still manages to send the audience away with a burning desire to keep doing what they do-better than they've ever done it before.

Dr. Michael StephensDr. Michael Stephens is currently Assistant Professor in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois, and author of the blog:Tame the Web: Libraries, Technology and People.  Read more about him at http://tametheweb.com.
Keynote Author Mark Crilley
Mark Crilley "Turning Points: The Four Moments That Made Me the Author I Am Today."

By way of a live drawing demonstration and images projected on a screen, I will take the audience through the four big turning points in my life that shaped me as a creative person: The 4th grade talent show that unlocked the "entertainer" in me, the fateful meeting with David Small at Kalamazoo College, my first arrival in Taipei, Taiwan and the powerful impact that had on me, and finally my chance meeting with Erin Helmrich, then librarian in Royal Oak (Now Ann Arbor), the first person to encourage me to begin speaking at schools and libraries to share my thoughts about writing with young people in Michigan and beyond.

Volunteers Needed!
Have you ever noticed that you get more out of an event when you're really engaged in it? The same holds true with volunteering at our conference. Meet new people, use this networking opportunity, and get an inside view of the organization by giving a couple of your conference hours. No experience necessary! Email Gwenn Marchesano gwenn2ns@yahoo.com
to lend a hand.

Roundtable Presenters Needed!
Do you "Dare To Dream?" Do you have a great idea or resource you can explain in fifteen minutes or less and present three times in one hour?   Please consider being a presenter for our Roundtables at the MAME 37 Fall Conference in Dearborn.
