News from President Judy Hauser...

I hope to see you at the MAME Winter Leadership Conference in Ypsilanti, March 28-30.  The conference theme is "Leading During Difficult Times...Within Your District and Your Profession". The speaker will be Dr. Blanche Woolls. Blanche has written several books and articles and is well known in the library field. She will help us with tools to help us get through the obstacles and roadblocks in our profession and help us become better leaders.

The MAME Winter Leadership Conference is always exhilarating, extremely interesting and fun. The networking can't be beat. Please join your colleagues for this invigorating event.

MAME Interactive will be up and running in the near future. This is going to be your "One Stop Shopping Place" on the MAME website. There will be links to free Web 2.0 online courses, tools, resources, forums, K-12 content expectations and standards and lesson plans. I can't emphasize enough that school library media specialists must be the point person on Web 2.0 tools to meet the METS and the OLR, to require collaboration with classroom teachers, to market research resources and teach skills to students and to be familiar with the GLCES and the HSCES.

All of the standards and content expectations above will be accessible via MAME Interactive links. They are mandatory and must be addressed by media specialists because you have so much knowledge that is essential to students' success. You are experts in research and literature so make sure your fellow staff members know it and can't wait to collaborate with you so students will benefit!

I hope to see you in Ypsilanti for the MAME Winter Leadership Conference. Please don't miss out on what is sure to be a great event.
