Greetings!
Braden Kelley at a Dan Pink Event
November for me (and many others) is a month spent thinking about what I'm thankful for. This includes of course my family and friends, but I'm also thankful for those of you who take time to read this newsletter and for those that have supported me along the way.

It is by recognizing and appreciating the positive things that we have in our lives that we continue to take the actions necessary to help them thrive.

Innovation is very similar. Successful innovation can power you to the top of the world -- for now -- but much like your personal relationships, it requires attention and sometimes difficult dialogue to enable the healthy renewal that removes barriers and transforms moments of brilliance into decades of delight.

My new book "Stoking Your Innovation Bonfire" focuses on helping organizations identify and remove barriers to innovation. Early sales are strong and the book is getting great reviews. It's an easy, fun read for anyone interested in innovation.

I hope you enjoy this month's newsletter. Please forward it to any colleagues you think might find it useful.

If so, allow me to suggest five design rules for enlarging and enhancing your innovation pipeline

Creating Predictable Innovation Success

Les McKeownI had the opportunity to interview Les McKeown, author of Predictable Success recently. Here is text of the interview:

1. Why is innovation so important for organizations?

Two reasons: First, it's clearly a competitive advantage. Innovative organizations are far more likely to flourish in the long term than competitors who are merely emulating others.

The Nine Innovation Roles

The Nine Innovation RolesToo often we treat people as commodities that are interchangeable and maintain the same characteristics and aptitudes. Of course, we know that people are not interchangeable, yet we continually pretend that they are anyway - to make life simpler for our reptile brain to comprehend. Deep down we know that people have different passions, skills, and potential, but even when it comes to innovation, we expect everybody to have good ideas.
