In the quest to unlock innovation in organizations, it may be beneficial or even mandatory to learn how to unlock the internal children in our employees.
 
I'm sure we can all remember as children being told "don't" do this or you "can't" do that, and the result growing up was to reinforce the idea that there is one "right" way to do anything. It has also led to the creation of a national psychosis of believing that many actions that would create positive change are too difficult to try.   .....................................................More
The Network Operators are Dead - Long Live the Mobile Operators
 Baby Bells MapThere is little doubt now that the telecommunications industry is a tumultous and precarious place to be. On the wireline side, baby bells and cable companies are engaged in a necessary but costly arms race. Both are forced to invest in increasing broadband capacity and coverage while simultaneously facing increasing competition from wireless service providers. At the same time, baby bells and cable companies are invading each other's space with baby bells beginning to offer television service, and cable companies offering voice services via VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) as part of their offer.      ......................................................................More
Why the iPhone will not succeed - Yet
 Baby Bells MapThe new Apple iPhone is set to launch on June 29, 2007 and the press and investors are making it a darling. Investors have run Apple's stock price up from about $85 per share before its announcement to $125 per share recently, but the iPhone still will not succeed - at least not yet.

The problem with all this media hype is that it ignores the simple fact that the iPod was not a success. I mean, it was eventually, but it was far from a success out of the gate. "Blasphemy" you might say, "everyone has an iPod" you might say, but the fact is that the iPod was not successful until about the third generation. The iPod was not a success until its killer application was available to the masses. The iPod was not a success until the Windows version of iTunes came out. Then and only then, did iPod sales skyrocket and install the iPod as a cultural icon. ...............More
