Note From The President

The School District Matching Grants Program provides local education foundations a dollar for dollar match opportunity. The program provides needed funding to strengthen academic programs for low-performing students, provide literacy programs, enhance teacher recruitment and retention, and deliver career and technical education programs. The Matching Grants Program is designed to encourage private sector investment in public schools. The 2008-09 Matching Grant program is currently in the Governor's budget at $4 million statewide and represents the current level of funding.  While we recognize this will be a challenging budget year; if this year's program is funded, it will provide over $200,000 in match dollars to the Hillsborough programs.  This is a tremendous incentive for investment of private dollars into our various programs.

How can you help?  Please take a moment and send a note to your state representative or senator and let them know that you support the School Districts Matching Grants Program (GAA: Special Appropriations Line 110) at the Governor's budgeted level of $4 million.  Here is contact information for the Hillsborough legislative delegation. Your input will help us in continuing to serve the students, teachers and schools of Hillsborough County.
