Attend The Inspection |
"It is always a good idea to attend the home inspection. The 2 to 4 hour of the inspection will give you time to talk to your home inspector about the issues they might be finding during the inspection. The inspector can also give you maintenance and improvement tips to help you keep your home healthy. All this knowledge can come in handy."

MOBILE CERTIFIED

WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?
Have you seen these odd looking squares (like the one displayed here) in magazines, on signs, and online? They're called QR codes. They're two-dimensional barcodes which have encoded in them, URL's (web addresses), text, or other information. They can be read by a QR code scanner, including QR (barcode) scanner smartphone apps available from all major phone and tablet manufacturers.
Scan it and find out.
We've just launched our new mobile website for Certified Building Inspectors, yourcbi.com. Our aim is to enhance services for those of you with smartphones and tablets. We're committed in providing an almost anywhere accessible inspection service, optimized for the "on the go" Real-Estate client.
As technology advances in the inspection industry,
Certified leads the way.
Our mobile site (image above) will allow for access to scheduling an inspection, calling our office, or reviewing an inspection report from anywhere you can access the internet. Whether you're a Buyer, Seller or Real-estate agent our site will make your inspection experience move more seamlessly, and in this business environment, time is of the essence.
All areas of the site have been optimized for quick, specific, job utilization.
We know there's always more to do to improve and are very keen to hear your suggestions. So do let us know what you think of the new site by emailing; bruce@yourcbi.com - and please do report any problems you experience with particular handsets or tablets so that we can address them promptly.

Is Code Enforcement A Home Inspector's
Job?
An interesting topic of discussion that home inspectors have talked about for years is that first and foremost, private home inspectors are not code-enforcement officials. Code enforcement is the job of an elected or government-appointed body whose job it is to ensure that newly constructed and/or renovated homes, buildings, bridges, highways, etc., meet or exceed the standards for safe and affordable structures.
Some home inspectors will cite codes only as a reference, but under no circumstances can they enforce the codes. A major problem for home inspectors is trying to keep up with the many code changes in many different municipalities, which may occur every two to four years.
As new products are developed and new procedures in building science advance, the codes are changed to incorporate the latest advances in science and technologies. The changes are often adopted by the governing authorities, and then there is a lapse of time, usually one to two years, before the new codes are enforced.
The one to two year delay gives suppliers time to change their inventories of outdated products for newer items, and it gives the contractor time to learn and to adapt to the code changes. What can be confusing for private home inspectors is trying to keep up with when code changes take effect.
Home inspectors serve their clients better by simply pointing out visible defects and leaving the code enforcement to the building officials.

With more than 80,000 inspections and over 35 years serving all of Central Florida, Certified has seen a lot of changes, and we've vested ourselves in our community. We're a locally owned and operated (Brick and Mortar) company, not a franchise, nor some "Fly By Night" organization. We're very proud of our lengthy tenure and;
