Oklahoma Foundation For ExcellenceAnnouncement
Applications Available through March 7
for George Washington Teachers' Institute

George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens, an educational partner of the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, is accepting applications through March 7 for its George Washington Teachers' Institute. Information and applications are available online in the teacher information section at www.mountvernon.org.

The Teachers' Institute gives educators the opportunity to reside on the grounds of Mount Vernon and attend sessions by some of the best scholars in the nation. Participants are immersed in a full schedule of workshops and lectures by scholars such as Fred Anderson, Ira Berlin, Joseph Ellis, Peter Henriques, and Cokie Roberts. Thanks to the unique nature of staying on the lovely grounds of Mount Vernon, participants have the opportunity to engage with our guest speakers at evening receptions, private luncheons at the Mount Vernon Inn, and field trips. Teachers' Institute dates are:

Session 1: June 26-July 1, 2011; Teachers, grades 5 - 8

Session 2: July 10-14, 2011; Teachers, grades 3 - 5 (workshop format)

Session 3: July 17-22, 2011; Teachers, grades 9 - 12

Session 4: July 31-August 5 2011; Teachers, grades 5 - 8
