MEDIA LIBRARY UPDATE!
Happy Thanksgiving from GOCA! |
|
New Content, New Look and Email functionality!!
"The enormous potential of the Internet to improve cancer care is obvious, with an estimated one third of all cancer patients and their families in the developed world already going online for information related to the disease" (Cure, 2004).
What is the GOCA MEDIA LIBRARY?
The Media Library is a community outreach program launched by GOCA in March 2008. It is an extensive educational and informational online video library. The library content includes information on cancer symptoms, family dynamics, caregiver information, tutorials on current chemotherapies, integrative medicines, public service announcements, interviews with healthcare professionals, survivor stories and more. This web-based media resource is available to women, their families and the entire cancer community.
GOCA recently had the opportunity to sit down with Dr.Benedict Benigno and Dr. Stephen Salmieri of Southeastern Gynecologic Oncology (SEGO) last month and get them on film. The resulting videos are now on the Media Library and are quite amazing. A special thanks to both Dr. Benigno and Dr. Salmieri for their time and valuable input.
Dr. Benigno covered various topics from Ovarian Cancer 101, HIPEC treatment, to the latest research in finding a screening test.
Dr. Salmieri covered Genetic vs Hereditary cancer, BRCA1 & 2 gene mutations, simplified statistics and risk factors and walked through the topics of genetic testing, and family history and screening. We have added 3 new Directories - Cancer Basics, Genetics and Latest Technology and Research- under which most of these titles can be found.
The Directory names are located across the top of the video player in "green" and scroll to the right and left. And now you can share this information! A NEW feature-
"send to a friend", you can EMAIL any of these videos to anyone - anywhere!! To use the EMAIL function it is simple:
1. After watching the video you want to send, click on the "menu" button located in the lower right corner below the video screen;
2. An envelope will appear on the screen, click on the envelope to generate your email and type a message;
3. The recipient will receive a direct link to the video. Once they click through, let your recipient know they need to click on the play arrow, located on the screen to watch that particular video.
