Greetings! |
The topic of this month's newsletter is When is More Not Enough? Why NLP? It is part 1 of two parts on NLP. Well it's not really about NLP. Those of you who know me, know I am fond of saying "Joan came to see me about her headaches or why her business isn't on track and my response is always, but of course it isn't really about her headaches or her business." So read on because the newsletter isn't really about NLP.

When Is More Not Enough?
Why NLP? |
I was all set to send out the June newsletter when I received an email that inspired me to re-write my already finished copy. (That copy is now Part 2 of the topic Why NLP? for next month). Just opening the email and reading the brief note of rejection could have sent me to a negative place. It was not a personal rejection in that it was not directly about me, but in a way it was about something I represent or rather something representative of all of us. So I sat and began writing and as I wrote I realized this version was from my heart (not my head) and the inspiration came from the email. So to my emailer, thank you for your "no." I'm a naturally curious person and because of this I am always upgrading my education and knowledge through various trainings. Sometimes it seems the older I get the more I want to learn. But when are more classes, education and training just not enough? When I first transitioned from high-tech to the world of high-touch (which in truth are the same), I felt like I needed to take every training that related to my new field to give me the edge. So I signed up for Coaches training. What a wonderful experience. I worked with clients and yet I felt that I didn't quite have the skills to get many of my clients beyond the negative myths they continuously told themselves and clung to so desperately. So I went on to learn hypnosis and through my introduction to hypnosis I learned of and signed up for my first NLP training. In my Practitioner level training I not only learned some of the most powerful belief and behavior change tools, I forever transformed my own life and the way I chose to look at life, personally and generally. And yet I went on for more trainings. If NLP Practitioner training was this powerful what was Master Practitioner training going to do for me and my clients? (More about that later). Yet, I kept thinking that something was missing and I believed this missing piece was that I needed to build my knowledge and skill level about the physical being. So I went on to learn Acutonics® which is part of the emerging field known as Harmonic Medicine (Acutonics® is a facet of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is known as needle-less or sonic acupuncture. I do not compare my knowledge to that of the acupuncturist. That training is far more complex and comprehensive taking years to complete as well as to pass one of the most rigorous state board exams in existence. Acupuncturists are licensed and can be a primary care physician). Then one day I was telling one of my Acutonics® teachers (who is also a good friend and amazingly gifted acupuncturist and healer) that I was going to take another program that would enable me to be certified as a "real" holistic health practitioner. She looked at me in amazement and said in a very emphatic tone, "Julie, you are a gifted practitioner and you do not need any more training." Her words hit me as I imagined a taser shot would feel. I was stunned and then I experienced a whole range of emotions from my own surprise to humility to doubt to pride (what a compliment to receive from your mentor) and finally to introspection. It was some time before I came to the realization that taking more technical trainings would not give me what I was truly seeking. Here it is and it's big so pay attention: I was seeking validation of my own value and worth through outside confirmation. To know that the next training would be the one to give me the "ultimate skills" so I would feel good enough and have enough. No amount of "technical" or "trade" training or someone else's validation for that matter was ever going to give me validation of my own self worth and value. I needed to find the "more" piece within, not outside. To find that truly huge insight I went back to my roots as a master practitioner of NLP and Time Line® Therapy and did the work myself to clear the negative myth I'd been selling myself for the last thousand years (metaphorically speaking). I cleared the belief that I wouldn't be exceptional until I took yet another technical training or learned another skill or knew more about ___________ (fill in the blank). By doing this, I went back to me, inside to find what really matters. I found my truth. That what I practice and teach to others is the true gift, value and meaning in my life. That the knowledge and skills I possess at any give time are just perfect and the clients or students that need them will be the ones I work with. We can say we know this truth and intellectually we may, but do we know it inside and live it in our lives? This is the true test. Do I still attend trainings and learn new things? Of course but it is for a different reason. It is for the pure joy of learning. Of course I encourage people to hone their craft, but the biggest craft you can hone is yourself, personally. How can you serve others wisely and with integrity if you do not serve yourself in these ways first? I ask you to really dig down deep and ask yourself what is it you need more of? Where in your life is more NOT enough? If it is truly the technical skills then go for it. If it is to find your own truth, value and self worth I suggest you look closer to home - perhaps even to an NLP Practitioner training. Master Practitioner forever blew out the negative and disempowering structure I had constructed for myself. It provided me with a new and completely empowering way of living my life. (Note: I could never have imagined I could have the life I now have before taking my NLP trainings. It just wasn't in my realm of reality). This is the impact I personally experienced, imagine the tools it gave me to empower my clients. Not everyone who takes NLP trainings uses it with clients. In fact at this point about 90% of our students take it for personal evolution. Regardless of your motivation NLP and its cousin Time Line® Therapy is a highly effective body of knowledge and set of tools and techniques. In fact I've included one NLP technique you can try out yourself. With passion, Julie |
NLP Quick TIP |
Here's a quick tip for diminishing a craving for specific food or beverage, such as Diet Coke or chocolate chip cookies. This technique is adapted from one of the techniques we teach in NLP Practitioner training. It incorporates the use of what are called submodalities (the details of our primary senses). In essence it diminishes or eliminates our craving for a specific food or beverage. I suggest reading it through at least once and then go through the exercise. First, think of a food or beverage you really, really like and wish you didn't feel so compelled to consume. Got one? When you think of this item do you have a picture of it in your mind's eye? Notice if it is near to you or farther away in the distance. Is the picture in black and white or in color? Do you see yourself in the picture or are you looking through your own eyes? Make a note of your answers. Great, now think of your favorite place to vacation. We call this a break state to clear your mind. Second, think of something similar to the first food or beverage and make it something you find utterly disgusting or vile. Got it? When you think of this item do you have a picture of it in your mind's eye? Notice if it is near to you or farther away in the distance. Is the picture in black and white or in color? Do you see yourself in the picture or are you looking through your own eyes? Make a note of your answers. Now think of your favorite vacation place again. Next, bring back to mind the first picture of the item you like. Take the picture in your mind's eye and move it very rapidly to the very far end of the room you are in or imagine it zooming out about 50 feet down the block. Experiment by changing the color of the picture to the color of the item you dislike (if it was in color, make it black and vice versa). Imagine seeing yourself in the picture instead of looking through your own eyes. Additionally, make the picture small and dark. By this time you should feel very little desire for the food or beverage. **Here's an important key. The food or beverage should be as similar in texture as possible. For instance if you feel "addicted" to ice cream and hate frozen yogurt this would be a good similar item. I had a client who wanted to stop drinking Diet Coke. I used this method with my client and we used gin for the beverage my client detested. Just thinking about the gin made my client want to wretch. Within 5 minutes of doing this technique my client couldn't think about drinking Diet Coke without feeling nauseous. Our upcoming NLP practitioner training starts in July. It will be the only training this year. As an elite member of our database you will receive a special price for this training, never before offered. POWER Clearing Update |
Last month we introduced a new concept called POWER Clearing. It was very successful. So successful in fact we decided to form a group that met twice monthly and would move through clearing their issues with the support of the same people. This group is now closed to new members.
If you would like to participate and have this same success we will be forming a new group.
Here's the premise:
We will find the limiting belief or some facet of you life that isn't working as you'd like or a goal you cannot seem to achieve, find the underlying root cause and clear it so you can move on to your higher purpose.
The first meeting will revolve around money/finances/career.
After the first meeting the topics will rotate to include: Relationships, Health & Fitness, Spirituality, and Personal Growth & Development and Family.
To attend all you have to do is make the commitment to yourself and call me or email me so you can prepay your POWER Clearing.
To coach you properly our group is limited to 5 people. Please note: you are coming to get rid of "stuff" so stuff will come up.
Register today and make a clear path to your goals.
