From the Desk of the Executive Director
Thunder Bay Ontario was the host city for the 2009 Annual General Meeting of the Board of Directors and Delegates. The Board of Directors met for their third meeting of the year to discuss matters of the board and to prepare the 2009/2010 budget for presentation at the AGM. As in past years, CTF prepared a workshop and Open Forum on Friday evening and the AGM of the Delegates representing our provincial and local associations was held on Saturday.

Former Team Canada Member & The 2005 Champion Will Represent Canada at 2009 AMF/Quibica Bowling World Cup
Carolyn Lagrange, Montreal, Quebec, a former Team Canada member and Michael Schmidt, Winnipeg, Manitoba who earned the World title in 2005, will represent Canada at the 2009 edition of the Bowling World Cup. The singles championship sponsored by Quibica/AMF will be held in a new 52-lane centre in Melaka , Malaysia, from 14th to 21st November.

Windsor, Ontario, is a senior at Saginaw Valley
State. He has
Been named Most Valuable
Player by the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association and Collegiate
Bowler of the Year by the Bowling Writers Association of America.

2008 Female Youth Bowler of the Year Has Success at NCAA Championships
Brampton, Ontario's Valerie
Calberry was named to the All Tournament Team at the National Collegiate Athlete
Association Women's Bowling Championships (NCAA) held at Super Bowl. in Canton, Michigan
in April. Calberry is a freshman at Nebraska University
whose team the Cornhuskers, won their third national title in six years.

Thunder Bay Hosts 7th Annual Canadian Mixed Championships
The 2009 National Mixed Championships were held in Thunder Bay, Ontario, April 17 - 19. The competition took place at Mario's Bowl. CTF selects the senior representatives for the Tournament of the Americas from the Mixed Championships. Three of the four 2008 representatives to the Tournament of the Americas earned the right to represent Canada at the 2009 event.

British Columbia Athlete's Assistance Program
Through
sponsorship of the provincial government and the Ministry of Healthy Living and
Sport, the BC Tenpin Federation is giving $500 each to one male, female, and
two youths for development in bowling and with the intent of placing bowlers on
national teams.  |
BC Tenpin Federation Scholarship Fund
The
BC Tenpin Federation is soliciting scholarship funds. Since 1985, the program has awarded 132
scholarships totaling over $36,000 to graduating grade 12 youth bowlers to
assist them with post secondary educations.

July Mini Eliminator
The 2009 July Mini Eliminator event will be held
at The South Point in Las Vegas
from June 30th - July 4th.
The 13th annual summer classic includes 16 qualifying squads
and 3 early bird events.
