Greetings!
Good old fashioned hard work, hand-shaking and persistence never go out of style. Working together locally we will help dodge the raindrops of this economic thunderstorm! Make that extra call, send that extra sales letter, remind your family & friends that referals are the lifeblood of so many enterprises. And I'm not just talking about "selling" things - there are other problems that need to be solved on a daily basis and having a network that you keep in contact with can really make a difference in amazing ways. I'll write more on this next issue & see notes on Networks Anonymous below.
Ok, everyone who attended the Brookfield Chamber Gala - where are the photos? :-) Do share via email & I can include in an email if you like.
See you at Rocco's (Brookfield) for lunch today or at Armando's next Thursday evening 3/26 5-7pm.
Tuesday 3/24 is my birthday - anyone want to come out and play?

Dog Finds New Home (unrelated to above story!)
March 12, 2009: Local Realtor/Miracle owner, Sarah Becker (me), was showing a condo late in the day recently and a quiet man walked by with a fluffy copper-colored dog... "What a pretty dog!" says Sarah scratching the dog's big perky ears (sucker!). "You want her?" says the man. Soft doggie eyes are checking me out... Hmm... So a couple of days later I'm back at the condo complex with my blue-eyed white border collie, Sebastian (my deaf dog who occasionally visits Miracle Graphics & is featured in some of our ads) for a little play date with "Missy". The dogs got along well, so home we go! Our cat is NOT too pleased with things at the moment...
So here's a little discussion question ~ how many of you guys have brought your pets to work? Have you ever ended up with a pet through work? Do you have any funny stories/photos you'd like to share with 900 local business people & friends? Email them to me at mgmllc@gmail.com and get some attention in our next e-newsletter. Maybe I'll come up with a prize for the best response... ~Sarah B |

Building Robots!
Connecticut Team Wins Boston Regional--Needs $$$ to go to Championship
After their 7th season of designing and building a new robot in 6 weeks, the For Inspiration and Recognition for Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics Team 1099 (The LIONS) from Brookfield, CT won their first FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) Regional against 53 teams from all over New England, California and Canada at Agganis Arena at Boston University in Boston in Massachusetts on Saturday, March 7, 2009.
This win qualifies team 1099 along with their two alliance partners to compete in the International Championship Competition that will be hosted in Atlanta, Georgia during April 16-18, 2009. 500 teams with robots from all over the United States and other countries will be coming together to compete in the Georgia Dome. Over 10,000 students will be there. Ms. Troupe, Co-Founder/Advisor of Team 1099 said, "Although none of us have ever attended the international event, FRC events are like attending a rock concert, a science fair and sporting event all in one. You cannot just hear about it, you have to go there and experience it, this will be taking all of us to a new level that none of us cannot even begin to imagine." The challenge for this team is that they need additional sponsor(s) immediately. They need to pay a $5,000 registration fee PLUS money to pay for their travel & stay in Atlanta for the 3 day competition. Friday, April 10 is their deadline to pay the $5,000 registration fee. The team currently does not have the money. Help! They are looking for additional sponsors to give donations from $10 to $5,000+. Team 1099's current sponsors include: Goodrich, GE Volunteers, B & A Motors, University of Bridgeport, Northeast Utilities, KatArt, Diversified Global Enterprises, Burnside Hardware, Office Max and Brookfield HS. The team has over 20 high school age members made up of students from Brookfield, Newtown and Bethel. There are three BHS advisors: Donna Didsbury, Susan Troupe and Rob Zapor. "The students are very excited and this means a lot to them to be able to go to the Atlanta Championship Competition especially for our seniors, this is their last chance to go as a high school student." said Ms. Troupe. Additionally, Team 1099 was awarded the Boston Regional Autodesk Visualization Design Award for an animation on Using Biomimicry to Solve a Design Challenge. The animation was created and submitted by Chris Johnson, junior at Brookfield HS.
Checks can be made out to: "BHS Robotics" mail to: Attn: Susan Troupe, Brookfield HS, 45 Long Meadow Hill Road, Brookfield, CT 06804. For more information please contact: Ms. Troupe, FRC Team 1099 at 203-775-7725 ext. 7746 or manyhats2000@yahoo.com
