| Project HIRE
Ohio Department of Development
Project HIRE (Project Hometown Investment in Regional Economies) is a state initiated program designed to help connect employers who have current job openings with dislocated workers who may have, or are close to having, the necessary skill sets to fill those positions. Under this program, Ohio Learning Accounts (OLAs) of up to $6,000 are awarded to qualifying dislocated workers and their new employers to help defray the cost of classroom instruction and/or partial wage re-imbursement during the worker's on-the-job training. For more information regarding OLAs and program requirements, please contact Marge Artman, Business Service Representative, Workforce and Talent Division, Ohio Department of Development, 2146 Southgate Parkway, Cambridge, Ohio 43725. We are YOUR 4 star Accredited Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce. One of only 6 in Ohio. We are very proud of this achievement and we are looking forward to starting the process in 2010 for our
Accreditation renewal in 2011. | | Building Bridges to Improve Student Success
Improving college and career readiness for students is a topic of utmost importance among education professionals. The Obama Administration gave the issue even more prominence this year when it said that every U.S. high school student should be making plans to either attend college or pursue at least one year of career-specific job training. At New Philadelphia, we want to provide our teachers every opportunity to ensure that students are equipped with the skills and abilities necessary to succeed in college and their career. On October 15, New Philadelphia Middle and High School Teachers will be available to tour businesses around the area for the purpose of understanding the expectations of employers and ways in which teachers may become involved to help stimulate economic growth and security of our community. If your company would be willing to give a group of about 10 middle or high school teachers a tour of your business, please give Deb Kennedy, Assistant Superintendent, a call at 330-364-0600. Date: Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 Times: 9:30 to 10:30 11:00 to 12:00 1:00 to 2:00
