Now that winter seems to be over and spring is really here, it's time to think about skin rejuvenation.

| Age Gracefully (?) or Fight Back (!) |
You've all heard about aging gracefully. But with what the Aesthetic Industry now has to offer we no longer have to just give in to the aging effects of sun, wind, gravity, smoking, free radicals, and all those other bad actors that make us look and feel old.
With current laser technology and the products developed by the cosmeceutical industry we can come out fighting and hold off the ravages of the aging process against which we formerly had no defense.
I'm going to give you a brief introduction to a number of techniques which you can investigate in more depth if you wish, by clicking on the underlined terms to find more information in those areas of interest for you.
Vibraderm is a medical, non-invasive, form of microdermabrasion which polishes away the dead layers of skin, to allow us to access the fresh new layers for various forms of additional treatment including the application of skin care products. Several of these treatments follow.
Anti-Aging Titan utilizes infra-red energy to gently heat sagging and lax skin of the face, abdomen, thighs, upper arms, etc., to tighten up wrinkles and create a less aged appearance to the skin. In spite of some ads that you may have seen, Titan is not appropriate for "breast lift".
Laser Genesis removes fine lines and wrinkles, such as smoker's lines around the mouth, and fine crow's feet alongside the eyes. It uses laser energy to pleasantly heat the skin causing the production of new collagen which produces a younger appearance.
Intelligent Pulsed Light (IPL) has only one really usefull purpose: to reduce the appearance of brown spots and/or freckles. You may have seen ads promoting IPL for hair removal, wrinkle and pore reduction, facial rejuvenation, etc., etc. Please do not fall for those ads. All those other corrective procedures can be much better performed by the technology that was developed for them and not by misusing IPL.
Skin Medica Cosmeceuticals I have investigated multiple companies which produce skin care products. Only a few of them make their products available solely through physicians' offices. Of those I have chosen SkinMedica to work with because it was founded by Dr. Fitzpatrick, a well-know dermatologist who was instrumental in the development of Tissue Nutrient System (TNS) which is used in the growth of cultures of skin for healing of burn victims. TNS consists of Nouricel-MD and nourishes your skin to make it look, act and feel younger.
Cutera is the manufacturer of the CoolGlide YAG laser that we use here. Check their website for answers to all of your questions about what lasers can and cannot do for you to help fight aging instead of giving in. |
