Greetings!

Brrrr...it's getting cold out there, but the sun is still shining, which is great!  These are some beautiful autumn days, yet chilly nights.

I hope you have had a great week.  My computer woes of last week have finally been resolved.  On the brighter side, I sure learned a lot about computers that I didn't know before.  I gained some valuable information that will help me in the future.

For those of you who may not know, today is National Coming Out Day.  This is an internationally-observed civil awareness day for coming out and discussion about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) issues. It is observed on October 11 every year in the United States by members of the LGBT communities and their supporters.

It is highly encouraged for participants on this day to wear gay pride symbols.  So, enjoy this day and show your PRIDE!!

National Coming Out Day  Go to Basic Rights Website

Please join Basic Rights Oregon as we celebrate National Coming Out Day at our 26th Annual Dinner and Auction, Saturday, October 11. Northwest siren Storm Large will perform, sharing the stage with hosts Daria O'Neal and Mitch Elliot from FM 101.5 The Buzz' "Daria and Mitch Show."

A crowd of 1,000 community members, allies and policy makers is expected to fill the ballroom at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. But it's not too late to purchase your ticket! Please call 503 222-6151 to buy your ticket today.

The theme of this year's event is Metamorphosis: embracing the transformation of the movement for equality as we celebrate our successes and take on new challenges. The event raises critical funds for Basic Rights Oregon, and honors the achievements of those who have donated their time and treasure to ending discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in Oregon.

This year, Basic Rights Oregon will present the "Fighting Spirit" award for lifetime achievement to Portland attorney Charlie F. Hinkle, for his groundbreaking work defending the rights of gay Oregonians during a legal career spanning more than three decades. In 1972, Hinkle filed the first nondiscrimination lawsuit based on sexual orientation in Oregon, successfully representing a local schoolteacher who had been fired from her job for being a lesbian. The plaintiff in that case, Peggy Burton, will be on hand to present the award.

For the first time, this year's event will also honor seven Oregonians from around the state whose efforts have made a difference in their communities. This year's "Equality Champion" honorees include Leslie Stone, Jo Casselberry, Jeanne St. John, Tobi Hill-Meyer, Teri Noble, Erin Walsh and Frank Roa.
It's going to be our most fantastic event ever. I hope to see you there!

For more information or to purchase a ticket over the phone please call 503 222-6151.

POLITICS & POPCORN Film Series - Sundays at 3:00 pm,  Eugene Public Library
See democracy through new eyes with Politics & Popcorn, a free documentary film series at the Downtown Eugene Public Library, Sundays  in October at 3:00. The films explore elections in four nations. The  Library presents this program in collaboration with P.O.V., PBS'  award-winning nonfiction film series: www.pbs.org/pov

Campaign, by Kazuhiro Soda, is the featured film on Sunday, October 12. This startling insider's view of Japanese electioneering follows an average man who's plucked from obscurity by the ruling party. To run for a critical seat on a suburban city council, Kazuhiko Yamauchi allows his life to be turned upside down -- with both tragic and comic results.

On Sunday, October 19, the Academy Award-nominated My Country, My Country takes an unforgettable journey into the heart of war-ravaged Iraq in the months leading up to the January 2005 elections. This film by Laura Poitras asks: Is it possible to conduct democratic elections in a war zone? Can a foreign military force bring Western-style democracy to the Muslim world?

Wrapping up the series on Sunday, October 26 is The Fall of Fujimori by Ellen Perry. Featuring interviews with Fujimori himself, this film tells the stranger-than-fiction story of the unknown who rode a wave of popular support to Peru's presidency. After fighting a successful war on the Shining Path terrorist guerillas, Fujimori eventually fled the country as a despised dictator accused of corruption, kidnapping, and murder.

What customer's are saying:

"I'm glad I found your Web site. It's the only site that truly saves you $$$$$. The prices are ridiculously cheap, and I love the one-price, flat-rate shipping fee! I also couldn't believe how fast my order was delivered. Thanks so much. You've got a customer for life."  -- Makeda W.

I friend told me about this great web site where I can get my vitamins, supplements and more for much less than I pay for them in a store.  Plus, the shipping rate is a flate $4.99 fee on any size order.

I placed my first order this week, and was very satisfied with the cost and arrival time of my products.  You can check it out at:  www.vitacost.com

A Benefit for KSC Tibetan Buddhist Center
Radiant Life Center
For the last 8 years, I have been on the board of directors of Kagyu Suka Choling (KSC) Tibetan Buddhist Center whose primary location is in Ashland Oregon. However, the two resident teachers Lama Pema Clarke and Yeshe Clark, come to Eugene regularly to lead meditations and give spiritual teachings in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.  As a fundraiser toward the construction of a beautiful center for Buddhist meditation and instruction in Ashland, OR, KSC is offering it's annual Day for Dharma, where those who participate donate their services, giving the proceeds to KSC.

I will be offering energetic healing sessions on Sunday, Oct. 12, Noon to 6 pm, and donating all of the proceeds to KSC.

These sessions will not be typical counseling sesions, but energy healing sessions utilizing Matrix energetics, Energy Psychology techniques, and shamanistic technique.

The cost for these sessions will be $20 per 1/4 hr, with a half hour minimum.  I will be scheduling appointment times.

To give yourself an opportunity for some profound healing, and support the presence of Buddhism in the Northwest, please email: lcarosio@comcast.net  or call 541-687-2835 for an appointment.
