Living Your Soul's Purpose
Living Your Soul's Purpose book answers the questions:
· Why am I here? · Who am I to be with? · What is my ideal career? · How am I to take care of myself? · Why was I born into my family? · How am I to serve my community and the world?
Clear the energy blocks to discovering your soul's purpose-why you are on this planet now.
You can find my own personal story on page 256. ~ Kim

Greetings!
I'd like to remind everyone that we'll be celebrating Lavender Womyn's 5 year anniversary next Sunday, August 17th @ 2:00pm at our home in West Salem. I'll be sending out a reminder email with information about the event and directions sometime this weekend. There is no need to RSVP, just come ready to have some fun!!
I hope you all had a chance to make it to Capitol PRIDE last Saturday for a bit. It was really great having PRIDE at the Riverfront Park this year. What a beautiful space to celebrate our community, and the perfect weather.
Many thanks to Jonathan for his hard work in putting this all together. I also want to thank Lavender Womyn members Kathie S., Heather and Terin for taking care of the LW booth this year. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have had a booth this year because I had four of my volunteers cancel on me just days before PRIDE. So, I really appreciate you women hanging in there. They were able to raise $82 through donations and the 50/50 raffle. Karen Z. was the big winner of the raffle and took home $32!! Congrats Karen!!

Thank You Benton and Linn Counties
The Basic Rights Action Team sends a warm THANK YOU to all who contributed to this year's Garden Party fundraiser. We had perfect weather, a big beautiful shady yard at Julie's house, and about 80 guests who had such a good time, we finally had to start cleaning up around them.
Best of all, we raised more than $8000. The planning committee is especially pleased with the number of straight allies and businesses who contributed.
The Garden Party is a good place for service providers (doctors, massage therapists, accountants, etc.) to advertise their support of the LGBTQQIA community. If you know of people or businesses we should approach next year, please send their contact info to Faith at: FaithReidenbach@aol.com This is for Benton-Linn County Garden Party only. |

California Gay Marriage Measure
Judge upholds ballot summary of California gay marriage measure
Associated Press Article Launched: 08/08/2008 11:10:19 AM PDT
SACRAMENTO - A Sacramento judge says state officials do not have to rewrite the ballot summary describing Proposition 8, the gay marriage ban on November's ballot.
The ruling is a setback for the initiative's supporters, who say the title and summary written by Attorney General Jerry Brown are argumentative and could prejudice voters. They say Brown should have written a more neutral statement.
Sacramento County Superior Court Judge Timothy Frawley disagreed in a ruling issued today.
He says the title and summary accurately summarizes the proposition by saying it would eliminate the right of gay and lesbian couples to marry.
Brown changed the title and summary after the state Supreme Court in May overturned California's voter-approved ban on gay marriage.
The initiative's supporters say they will appeal.
