Greetings!

Great news for California!  In a 4-3 decision, the justices rule that people have a fundamental 'right to marry' the person of their choice and that gender restrictions violate the state Constitution's equal protection guarantee.  Click here to read more.  Ellen DeGeneres and her partner, Portia de Rossi, plan to take advantage of this ruling and will marry.

Hopefully this ruling will have a trickle down affect on the other states.

We have new members who continue to join weekly, and once in awhile we have someone who is willing to introduce themselves.  So, say "hello" to Danni.  Here's what she has to share about herself...

"I moved to Salem in April 2007.  I love the ocean and looking for agates on the coast.  I like movies, reading, playing cards, and having fun.  I am in good health and love animals.  I have one female shih-tzu.  I also like to golf, bowl, and workout."

Lesbian News Magazine
Lesbian News Magazine

The Nation's #1 Magazine for Lesbians of all Colors & Viewpoints.

The Lesbian News has the distinction and responsibility of being the nation's longest running lesbian publication. Founded in 1974 in Southern California, the LN began as the lone voice for lesbian issues. Today, after 34 years, the LN is still the nation's foremost voice for lesbians of all ages.

The Lesbian News is the vehicle for the experience of women's art, music, literature, films and history. We have premiered women's films which would not have otherwise been seen. We have reviewed women's literature and music which would not have found an audience and we have financially supported workshops and fundraisers that could not have been successful without us. With informative current articles such as safe sex and STD'S, the truth about political matters which impact us, such as same-sex adoptions and discrimination in the workplace, no other magazine in the world is as targeted directly to the lesbian community or as much a leader in supporting lesbian issues as the Lesbian News. We are, not only, a magazine published for and about lesbians, but also by lesbians.

Lipstick and Dipstick

Lipstick and Dipstick

Voted the #1 column in CURVE in a recent reader's poll, Lipstick & Dipstick give punchy advice to the lesbian community, a measured blend of guidance, wit and sincerity from the femme and the butch perspective.

They've made countless appearances on TV and radio, including a stint on Logo's Round Trip Ticket and on WE's Secret Lives of Women. Additionally, they've done extensive public speaking, including emcee work for HRC and hosting their own talk show at Nike World Headquarters where they interviewed the CEO in character in front of a large crowd.

Lipstick & Dipstick are emceeing a music festival this weekend in Eugene, Oregon. They will be there for Saturday night's show. The University of Oregon is hosting OUT/LOUD Music Festival and it runs both Friday and Saturday night.

Performances by the Von Foxies, Lipstick Conspiracy, Butchlalis de Panochtitlan, Team Gina are sure to please every musical taste!

In The Name of Love", does your arm immediately pop up signaling a stop sign?

If you answered yes to the above questions -- or you would like to answer yes -- Stardust is the answer to your dreams!

DJ Lauren will transport you back to the 40s, 50s and 60s with a treasure trove of swing music, Latin beats, early rock 'n' roll (doo-wop), and lots of Motown.

Community Auctions end in June not May - Sorry for error!

OK so I'm not perfect. The last community auction was scheduled for June 8th - the mini-auction on May 11th was just a fill in. A couple groups were saving things for the June auction as they would make fine Father's Day gifts. And yes, the tables for 25 & 50 cents will be at the last auction with maybe a $1 & $2 tables. It all depends what the groups bring and what is donated.

"Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best. Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. Live in the faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you!" -Christian D. Larson
