Greetings!

Do you smell it? Come on take a deep breath. Do you smell it? After such a wonderfully rainy winter the flowers are in bloom, trees have new growth, bushes are so colorful. With respect to our friends and colleagues with hay fever (I am so sorry!) that is the smell we have all been waiting for!
 
That also means that spring is here! This is a time for renewal, for starting fresh. After hibernating during winter and after months of Netflicks, pay-per-view movies and pots of homemade soup we now can emerge renewed and with increased vigor.  Dust off those walking shoes, grab a friend or two and start your own "walkie - talkie" group. Exercise is always more fun with friends, and the time goes by so much faster.
 
And what a better way to begin spring than our annual fashion show! On April 16th at the Handlery Hotel we will have our very own PWI members and OPT students modeling clothing. Attendees will have the opportunity to network, enjoy a great lunch and see various vendors with merchandise that may inspire a mother's day gift or two or maybe something special just for you!

For those of you who had a chance to attend our March lunch meetingPatricia Wenskunas Founder and CEO of the nonprofit organization, Crime Survivors, Inc. gave us a riveting account of her own personal experiences and how she triumphantly overcame being a victim to being a survivor. Member Update
 
Helen Nelson, one of our founding members, will be retiring in May 2010 after 30 years at State Compensation Insurance Fund.  She has been a field rep servicing direct accounts the entire time she has been at State Fund. 
  
Kimbra Pedersen recently got engaged and will be tying the knot in Fall 2010.

Charity Updates/Needs
8 Ways that you can support OPT 
 
  1. Attend the Fashion Show on April 16, 2010 
  2. Bring Gently Used Professional Clothing to the Fashion Show on April 16th  
  3. Use www.GOODSEARCH.com as your search engine and when asked "Who do you search for? Put in Grossmont College. OPT gets $.01 each time. 
  4. Ralphs - Sign up on www.Ralphs.com and list the non-profit organizaion (NPO) of 82387 and OPT will get credit from your purchases.
  5. Donate Auction Items - Silent and Live Auction Items needed for Mentor nights in March and October each year.  Contact Dr. Mary Leslie at 619-644-7533 to donate.
  6. Got Old Cell Phones?  Bring your donations to the OPT office Room 512B or contact their office at 619-644-7247
  7. Purchase an OPT Cookbook.  Contact Dr. Mary Leslie or buy them at the fashion show on April 16th  
  8. Recycle for OPT - deliver Rinsed cans and bottles (CA-CRV only) to the OPT office Room 512B or call to schedule a bulk pickup at your place of business.  You can also redeem your recycleables for cash and donate the proceeds to OPT.  Contact Dr. Mary Leslie 619-644-7533for drop-off or pick-up arrangements. 
 
2010 Membership
Membership dues for 2010 are overdue.
