Greetings!
Several of you have emailed me with questions about my book. I am happy to report that Discover Cooking with Lavender is at the printer and will be available in early 2010.
The book features some 75 fresh and flavorful recipes, along with more than 35 color photographs that will transport you to the middle of a lavender field. Here's a sneak peek at the cover.
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I'm grateful to my friends and family who helped bring this book into existence. I hope you will all enjoy my book.
Wishing you the best as we celebrate Thanksgiving.

Holiday Happenings: The Gift of Art
The holiday season, a time of gift-giving, brings its own special treats. One of them is the opportunity to support local artists, and another is sharing time with friends.
This time of year, many communities offer Art Shows or Art Studio Tours. Lavender Farms also host holiday events. Local artists offer paintings, pottery, handmade knit hats and specialty foods such as jam, jellies and lavender sugar for sale.Lavender Farms also host holiday events with craft displays, wreath making and gift ideas.
Why not treat yourself to an afternoon of visiting art studios or lavender farms? Avoid the stress of your local shopping mall and celebrate the season.
You will be inspired by the artists' creative energy, and you are sure to find memorable gifts for the special people in your life.

A Turkey Day Toast: Pomegranate Champagne Cocktail
Pomegranate and champagne team up for a special Thanksgiving cocktail.
Pomegranates are grown in California, Arizona and Texas. Packed with nutrients, this colorful fruit ripens in late October. This fruit with its red leathery rind is full of ruby-colored seeds. The edible seeds are both tangy and sweet.
Pomegranate Champagne Cocktail
1 pomegranate
1 bottle champagne
1. Remove the seeds from the pomegranate. One large pomegranate yields approximately 2 cups of seeds. To remove the seeds, cut the rind off each end of the pomegranate, then cut the rind and pull out the seed clusters. I like to put the seeds cluster in a large bowl of water and separate them in the bowl. The seeds will fall to the bottom and the pulp will float. The best way to do this is demonstrated in this video.
2. Put the pomegranate seeds in a blender and blend for 1 minute. Strain the juice into a saucepan and discard the seeds. You will get approximate 1 cup juice from 1 pomegranate. Place pomegranate juice in small saucepan. Add 1/4 cup lavender sugar. Stir and simmer for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cool. Store in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
3. When you are ready to toast the turkey, place 2 tablespoons of your pomegranate syrup in each champagne glass. Then fill the glass with chilled champagne or sparkling water.
Makes 4 -6 servings.

Blogs, Twitter & Facebook, too!
Between blogging, tweeting and posting updates on Facebook, I have discovered many people who share my passion for food, cooking and new flavor combinations.
In October, I began to follow Little Sky Lavender Farm on Twitter. That led me to a scrumptious recipe for Lavender Pumpkin Bread. New friends and new recipes!
For spreading the word about lavender and making new connections, these social networking tools are terrific.
